Thanksgiving 2008

Sorry it has been a while since my last post.... I have a new schedule at work and it has been hard getting used to. We have had lots going on though .....

One of my best friends in NC (Dawn) gave us a "Drinks and Dessert with the Viras" party...it was super fun. This picture was from the party.

There is a huge bulletin board at the hospital that all the departments take turns decorating. It was ultrasounds turn.....and after it stayed undecorated for 2 weeks, I finally gave in and just did it. It never really got finished ... but I think it turned out okay.

I had to work 7-7 on Thanksgiving...but that didnt stop us from having a traditional turkey dinner.
Joey cooked all day and made a huge dinner. By the time I got home around 7:30, everything was ready and on the table! We had a great Thanksgiving dinner with his family....Joey did such a great job and I was totally impressed.

We realized we don't have a gravy spoon....but no big deal....we used a measuring spoon!!

(Yes....we used our christmas china!)

Are you impressed??? This is what it looked like when I walked in the door...

We got our Christmas tree!!!!!!!!!!!! We decorated it tonight!
Hope everyone is doing well and having a fabulous holiday season...drop us a line sometime soon.
P.S. We are counting down the days until Melissa and Stew come stay with us. 12 days.....I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Good times

Joey's father and step-mother came in town this weekend. We enjoyed spending Sat. with them as well as Joey's sister and her family. We got up early Sat morning to see his neice and nephews play basketball....it was so much fun...it reminded me of the years I played with the YMCA. Cannada and I were always on the same team....(Lauren, were'nt we always the first pres purple people eaters or something?? )Donnie B and my dad were our coaches every year.
Sat night we went on a haunted hay ride. It was so much fun!

So...we thought this guy was fake....Joeys family was standing around while Tina took our picture. Right as we were walking off...he jumped at us and scared us to death! This was after the hayride so we were already spooked. He got all of us soooo good!

We have been looking for a china cabinet for a few weeks now... we finally found one last week and it was delivered on Sat.

It was our first big purchase! We are so excited and LOVE it! As Joey said, 'we own a china cabinet...we are officially adults'

YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Boo!

Haloween came early at our house. The dogs got dressed up in their costumes and Joey and I carved pumpkins. It was hilarious!

They turned out pretty cute huh?? Can you guess who carved which pumpkin???

So...Buddy is a cow, Kiki is a lobster, Zoe is a tiger, and Maddie is...well, she is wearing a tuxedo costume.

Buddy is scared of the camera....so we only got one shot and it didnt turn out that great....but he was too cute. We have been calling him our "cow boy".

Of course, Zoe had to have 2 costumes...so she was also a dinosaur.

She is such a poser!

Saturday was the best day EVER. Since we have 4 dogs, the house has to be vacuumed just about everyday. I have always had a cheap vacuum cleaner, and Joey has always used a shop vac....I HATE using the shop vac b/c it is huge and annoying, but it works well with the dog hair. So, my mother and I started doing research on the best vacuum cleaner(thanks Mom). WELL, After lots of research, WE PURCHASED THE MOST AWESOME VACUUM CLEANER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never thought I would be so excited about a vacuum cleaner.... but I so am. If anyone is looking into getting a good vacuum....I did the reasearch, and can help you out.

Isnt she beautiful??? I am so proud....

The leaves are changing colors here in North Carolina. So after church on Sunday, we took a 30 min scenic drive to the mountains. The leaves had not changed quite as much in the mountains as they have here in the piedmont...but it was still a gorgeous drive.

Lindsey and Joey Vira

Well, we are official!!! We had a perfect weekend, followed by a perfect honeymoon in Montego Bay. We both balled through the entire ceremony, and before it was over, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. It was so special, and we would not have done a thing differently.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Our photographer posted a few picts on her blog....check them out at http://necessaryview.blogspot.com/. We will blog later about Jamaica...

Showers CAN be fun!

Life is crazy insane in Winston Salem. How in the world can a wedding for 18 people demand so much preperation?? And lets just say this.... If I were having a regular Jackson wedding, I know for a fact I would be a bridezilla. I hope I have'nt gone that far, but its amazing how picky I am being about silly things.

I had my bridal portraits yesterday...I was totally dreading them, but I had so much fun. My photographer is awesome....makes you feel very relaxed. That being said, my dress got filthy...so just another things to add to the list...hope it can be cleaned by Sat!

The Nuclear Medicine dept put together a shower for us last night.....it was totally awesome.... Why??
1)Because I have been to tons of showers, and this was the first one that was actually for me (haha)
2) We did it Mexican style -- it was at Don Juans...our favorite mexican restaurant
3) Our bestest friends in NC were all there
4) We got some awesome AWESOME gifts.

Thanks so much to Stacie and the others in Nucs for putting everything together...and to Tina (Joeys sister) for doing all the decorations. I have posted some picts....they are pretty hilarious.

Laughing...b/c the J is backwards on the cake!

They fixed it... cute cake huh? Cute monogram huh?

Joey being goofy

This is my favorite picture of the night....

Joey "What is it? "
Lindsey "Um...Im not sure either"

It was a bread and butter plate

(I thought it was missing the cup...now I know the difference b/t a saucer and a bread and butter plate)

Joey's mom and sister gave us a Kitchen Aid Mixer.... We were so excited

At the end of the shower, they brought in the last presents...

and obviously, by the looks on our faces, we could'nt believe it.....

Nuclear Medicine gave us 2 28' pieces of luggage that we had registered for.
O
Overwhelemed...kitchen aid mixer in one hand and luggage in the other...
It was such a great night and we will remember it always. Thanks to everyone who came...

OFFICIAL COUNTDOWN:

Work Work Work.......

It seems like all I do lately is work. I feel as if I live at the Hospital. In fact, I am blogging from the hospital right now...I have had back-to-back patients all night, and am enjoying a few minutes of no patients. Oh yeah, did I mention I am working ALL NIGHT??? Our 3rd shift sonographer called in sick, and I am on call. So I am pulling a 16 hour shift and will leave at 7 in the morning.

WOW.... I feel better now that I just complained for 5 sentences (Does anyone feel sorry for me yet??)

I have accepted a new position to work 3 12 hour shifts. So I will work Monday, Wed, and Thursdays from 10:30am to 11:00pm. I will start the new hours as soon as they hire someone to replace me....who knows when that will be. Joey is starting 3 12's next week... so we will work 2 days together and be off 1 day together. Its going to be an awesome schedule.

On a different note, a lady from our church called and asked if Joey and I would be in a video. They want to film us telling our story...on how we met...Joey's journey to accepting Christ...my growth through watching Joey's transformation, etc. SSoo... it looks like we will start filming the week we get back from our honeymoon. Interesting huh?

The fabulous Five (plus Keke)

My bestest friends suprised me with a "bacherlorette weekend" in Charlotte last weekend. It was so stinkin awesome...and I will remember it always! 3 of the 5 girls have had babies in the last 2-3 months....needless to say, they have officially shown their loyalty to me. 3 moms flew in to help babysit while we painted the town. It was so fun to see my friends in action as moms.....and the babies are sooo cute! Here are some picts from the trip.

Here we are....

I have officially started a blog!! Only time will tell if I will actually update it or not... My hope is that through the blog, our friends and family will be able to keep up with what is going on with us in North Carolina.
